Keeps trying to reboot but gets stuck and shows black highlighted text

My computer randomly wouldn’t download a PowerPoint from blackboard. And then I restarted it and when it came back on it wasnt letting me open any app. Then I restarted it again and now it is stuck on the few screen with the Apple logo and progress bar. It gets half way loaded and then white text with black highlight appears and it makes the ding sound (like when it turns on) and goes black then tries to load again.

At this point I suspect your drive is corrupted. A common issue with the 13" MacBook Pro's is the HD SATA cable breaks down. I would start off replacing it following this IFIXIT guide: Remplacement de la nappe du disque dur du MacBook Pro 13" Unibody mi-2012 and here's the needed part: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable. Before you install it you'll want to place some electricians tape down when the cable rests on the uppercase as the rough aluminum often is the root cause of the cable breaking down. Also not over bend the bends as you can crack the fragile wires inside.

Once you've put the cable in you should make a backup of your apps and data (TimeMachine) then wipe the drive down and re-install the OS. This will remove any corruptions.
