Mon problème

I've had my Macbook Pro for a few years now and whilst nothing was wrong with it apart from being sluggish over the years, I decided to refurbish it over purchasing a new one. Finding the right replacement RAM and Hard Drive to suit my Macbook was relatively easy on the iFixit website and they have . . .

Mon problème

Over the years, the 320 GB hard drive in my trusty, late 2008 15" had become noisy, slow - and almost full, so I ordered a 500 GB including the few tools required.

The guide was more than sufficient, even for someone with limited experience. The physical exchange of the two drives was very quick. Ins . . .

The original HD stopped booting up in my MacBook Pro 13" mid 2010 vintage. I spent weeks off and on testing the drive and software with Mac's disk utility, reformatting the disk, reinstalling the opsys, etc., without knowing that the solution was quick and inexpensive!!

Hard drive fried.

Ma solution

Smooth. Hardest part was getting a new OS on the hard drive. OS Maverick is hard to get.

Mon conseil

If you can help it, I'd recommend having a time machine backup to make recovery easy. Also a good coffee machine makes everything better.

Mon problème

After 8 years of great service, my laptop was in desperate need of a major overhaul both in terms of RAM and storage. The old 160GB HD experienced a breaking of certain sectors and was no longer operational.

Once I did my homework researching for the right replacement HD, I went ahead and studied the . . .

My hard drive crashed and I was unable to recover my work including the OS on that drive.

Ma solution

I bought a new bigger drive 500 GB 5400 RPM 2.5" Hard Drive from ifixit and followed their instruction on installing the drive. The instruction was very clear and I had no problem installing the new drive.

had to put in a new hard drive. got quoted $350 for a repair shop to do the job. Yikes! Ordered from ifixit, went through the online tutorial, and finished in less than an hour! total cost was less than $90.

Blinking ? Thought it was the hard drive. It's got to last one more year. Plugged in a bootable backup but couldn't see the hard drive to repair or diagnose so decided to replace it. Turns out it was the Hard Drive Cable. Works fine now and I have a spare Hard Drive just in case.

The 15"MacBookPro which I sold to a friend last year and he brought it back in March saying it sometimes wouldn't boot and was making grinding noises. OH NO! Thankfully there was nothing important on it. I couldn't even get to reinstall OS X.

After ordering a new HDD, I replaced the old one. A simple . . .

The story is simple but hey, why not share. So my 10 year old son is sitting on my stool displacing the organized chaos called my desk. He starts going thru the middle drawer and finds a pair of cow magnets I got years ago. He then comes up with the bright idea to see if he can hold one magnet and m . . .
