Histoires de réparations

Jonathan Fedor's Story Photo #1329984

Mon problème

The trackpad on my wife's Macbook Pro went south. There were a couple instances of a small amount of water getting down below the surface of the computer and the last time caused the trackpad to bite the dust.

Ma solution

The repair was successful! I was really excited to order my first part from iFixit. The par . . .

Mon problème

non-working trackpad

Ma solution

Fine, except for the keeping track of the oh-so-small screws

Mon conseil

Use a magnetic screwdriver to handle the small screws

Mon problème

Cursor non responsive. USB mouse functional, suspected trackpad failure.

Ma solution

Uneventful. I've done literally hundreds of trackpad replacements.

Mon conseil

Use edge of post it notes wedged in between where the trackpad seats and the top case to create an equal distance all around the edge of the trackpad. Remove post . . .

Mon problème

Track pad no longer worked

Ma solution

Followed the instructions to the T. The repair went easy as pie.

Mon conseil

Be very careful with the trackpad screws. They are very small and easily stripped. Consider buying the screws. If I did this repair again I would buy the screws.

Mon problème

The trackpad was worn out where it was not very responsive to clicking it. I tightened and loosened the click adjustment screw but the trackpad was frustratingly not sensitive enough where it took repetitive clicks

Ma solution

The repair was a piece of cake! The guide gave me the confidence that I could do it.

Mon conseil

Mon problème

The tracking pad was sensing false movements.

Ma solution

The repair went fine. The black screws that came with it, however, did not fit. Fortunately, I had the original screws and used them.

Mon conseil

The black screws that came with the tracking pad did not fit. Fortunately, I had the original screws and used them.

Mon problème

The trackpad had sporadically lost functionality, first not clicking audibly, then not responding to a two finger swipe, etc. It suddenly stopped responding altogether. I took it apart to clean it, and noticed a plastic cap that was floating around the area instead of stuck decently to the end of . . .

Mon problème

The trackpad was damaged by a dying battery which expanded and pushed up against the trackpad.

Ma solution

The replacement went well, although the guide was for a 2011 macBook, so slightly different

Mon conseil

The trackpad for the 2010 MacBook uses a little yoke to hold the trackpad in place. This doesn't show up in the gui . . .

Mon problème

My trackpad was not ok,because the arrow jumped all over the screen

Ma solution

Very quick shipping and ,the replacement went very smooth, used 5 minutes and everything is working as normal

Mon problème

The trackpad on my Macbook Pro started seriously wigging out about six months ago. I ruled out software issues and, wary of the Mac store, decided to just get a good 'ol fashioned USB mouse after disabling the trackpad entirely. Needless to say, things got weird with the cord. Some weeks later, I op . . .
