Mon problème

Existing battery would not charge (old).

Ma solution

My second battery replacement for this iPod. The opening tool is difficult; I used a palette knife to do the separation, otherwise the procedure steps are fine.

Mon problème

It was an old ipod, and I was about to put in a new flash drive, so I thought a battery replacement was a good idea as well

Ma solution

It went fantastically! Thanks to the ifixit online guide!

Mon conseil

Taking the cable out of the battery is tricky and you just have to be patient and pull very gently with your fingernail . . .

Mon problème

My old iPod wouldn't hold a charge for more than a minute or so; it seemed to be causing some issues with rockbox.

Ma solution

Pretty well! I received two duplicate spudgers while the guide used a large and small... but I managed to get the iPod open with them, without any problems. I had it put back together . . .

Original battery would no long charge

Ma solution

The repair was a piece of cake. The tools supplied make a world of difference. The metal case was removed without any blemishes and still looks like new. Once inside my fat fingers were able to work with the small cables and parts thanks to the great instruction . . .

Mon problème

Original battery died, no Apple service sites nearby.

Ma solution

Generally easy.

Mon conseil

I found the blue plastic pry tools were not very efficient. The pry edges rounded off quickly. I ended up using a standard screwdriver to pry apart the casing.

Mon problème

The iPod would no longer run even when plugged in. Battery had swollen, making click wheel unreliable.

Ma solution

I ended up using a plastic card (loyalty wallet card) to hold the top seam apart. The small opening tools were not up to the task. The rear shell now is slightly bent outward, but it's barely noti . . .

Mon problème

My iPod wouldn't stay on. The battery was shot and starting to bulge.

Ma solution

In the first few minutes, I figured I'd have to get my husband to do it, but I knew he would probably destroy the case or at least scratch it badly. But I remembered a video I saw that recommended razor blades to help get the cas . . .

Mon problème

Battery was not holding charge.

Ma solution

I expected a printed page of instructions to be included with the Fixit Kit. I tried to find the instructions at the Fixit website and was unable. So I being the repair kind of guy that I am, proceeded on my own. I was able to figure out how to get the case open. Howev . . .
