Remove the steering shaft nut and pull off the steering hub. A steering wheel puller may be required. Use caution as the steering hub may pop loose. Next, remove the two "torx head" screws behind the steering hub that hold the two plastic covers together.

Use locking pliers to unscrew the tilt-adjusting lever. TIP: Wrap a shop towel or dish cloth around the lever to keep from scratching it.

Use a flat head screwdriver to make sure the new switch is good (reconnect battery and turn the switch in either direction as if to turn the vehicle on then start then off. It should turn smoothly and only kick back to the on position. After testing the new switch, disconnect the battery again. Take note of the tab on the case of the switch.

Tab A goes into slot B, marked in the photo. Also note that just above the red circle is the end of the ignition lock cylinder in the off position. If yours is not in the off position, it should be.
