Water damage-iPod touch 2nd Generation

So, I have a problem. Yesterday my Ipod touch 2nd genaration dropped on my bathroom sink (has water).

And so it got wet. I picked it up quickly and dried the outer part. Then I turned it off while it dries. A while later I saw in the web to charge it for a few days non stop to make it work again. And so I did. But then I realize that there's no screen showing nor sound. I then plugged it in the computer and it detects it. So I tried resync it to try make it work. Yes, it synced but no screen!

Can someone please help me! I don't think it's fried because it's detectable in my computer.

Arvin, unless you clean it properly, you may get failure due to corrosion damage later. I suggest you clean it, replace the battery and reevaluate. It is possible that the water damage shortened out the LCD, or even the inverter circuit on the board. Start by replacing the LCD, and recheck.

But won't it cost me lots of money? Because I'm thinking that rather than wasting 100+ $ on the repair, I'll just buy a new one...

Or is that a method that won't cost me much...

Arvin, check this guide and see if that would be something you would consider doing. The LCD is available right here and places like this. Not a bad price, but it can be a bit tricky to work on.

Hmmmm...I think it might be it. I'll go first to an apple store and ask if it's really the LCD because I don't wanna buy the LCD and put it in my Ipod and it's still broken...It will just be a waste of $$

Thanks though..I now know what might be the problem XD

I dropped my ipod touch 2nd gen in water too. I thought my ipod was done for. I left my Ipod alone sadly for about a month and one day decided to try and charge it. When I charged it, it started working I just had to connect it to itunes. If you do go to apple and they tell you that you have to replace anything, I will tell you that it is a lot cheaper to fix it yourself if you think you can. I've replace my audio jack, volume button, lcd and glass digitizer for about 30$.

Where did you buy the LCD? Is it online? If so, can you tell me, because I'm using my Ipod right now but I can't use the screen because I think its's the one that got damaged. So what I do is use my Beats earphone and use it's control to play songs and it works.
