will not boot with battery

I have changed the magsafe connector and still have the same problem. The macbook will not boot with the battery in the notebook nor will it charge the battery. I able to boot up if I take the battery out. The process is to disconnect the power adapter, press the power button and hold then connect the power adapter, release the power button and then press the power button again and the macbook boots up. Of course, if the macbook gets disconnected from the power adapter, then the macbook turns off and you will need to do the reboot process again. You can however shutdown/restart and reboot the macbook as long as the power adapter has not been disconnected.

any ideas on how to fix the problem so that I can use the macbook with the battery?

First off, I would try it with a different battery. If it is still doing the same thing, then you most likely have either have a logic board problem or a battery connector problem. The battery connector would be preferable as it is much less expensive. It can be found here:

MacBook Battery Connector/Sleep Sensor (non-Energy Star)

Coming at it from a different angle, it could be your dc-in board found here:

MacBook MagSafe DC-In Board

I'm not really sure if this could be the case, it's just a thought, but it might be that your Dc-in board is not supplying enough power to both run the computer and charge the battery at the same time. That would explain why it will turn on with no battery (because there is no battery to take any juice), but will not turn on WITH a battery. As I said, its more of a theory than a definite solution, but its worth a shot before trying to replace the logic board.

They say they've replaced their Magsafe Connector, sounds like the same thing as the DC-in Board

I think it is the battery itself that is the case of the problem.

It's available in White or Black

I had this problem a couple of weeks ago. I could run the computer with the battery taken out and the power cord attached. I went to Apple and found the latest Battery Driver update. After installing it everything works fine now.

Try this: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/ap...
