My Xbox CD tray keeps on getting stuck when it tries open so i have to move it until it can open by itself. its been happening for 3 months now, and at some point i couldn't get my game out for three whole days. and i don't know whats wrong i would really appreciate the help

I can take a guess, I would assume that it is just a sticky or stripped gear on the drive itself. You can open it up and clean the gears, but that is time consuming and you may not even find the gear thats bad (or more than one). Another option is to replace the drive, I am pretty sure the gears are integrated into the drive (I don't do a lot of xbox work, but most drives are that way).

thanks a'lot for the advice i opened it up and sure enough there was this gear that was a bit tilted (though i still wonder how that happened in the first place but i fixed it and now it works perfectly thanks
You can't just swap drives. The drive is locked to the motherboard. You would have to strip the key off the old one and install in in the new one

Another thing to check is the dvd drive belt. It looks like a black rubber band. With use, the belt stretches out and makes it hard for the spindle to disengage from the magnet in the top of the dvd drive case, which allows the tray to eject.

mine is the same i think it is due to the disk drive caseing when i took mine apart and left caseing off worked perfect till i put it back on again it will only eject when the mechanisam inside drops which is the part that lifts cd of the tray and i think its due to the caseing maybe slightly warped which when put back together causes slight pinch which makes it jam also grease up the moving just use a slight bit as to much of the stuff could be thrown around inside the unit the caseing im goin on about is the one on the cd drive 4 small screws other thing is to get draw open is to lie console flat and with 2 fingers keep tapping just above the draw quite hard as you push eject button hope this helps
