Why's my touchscreen not responding? Error code -1 when restoring?

Hey guys. I'm new to this, but just wanted help before I decide to pry the iPod open. So anyway, I bought this iPod Touch 2nd Gen from my friend and he said that the touchscreen isn't working for some wierd reason. Anyway, after I got it home and connected it, I checked what's wrong. Low and behold the screen didn't work, and when I try to restore it, it just says that it can't be restored due to an error -1 which from what I understand is a hardware error. My main question is would this be a hardware error as in just the touchscreen causing the error or would this be a logic board error? Also, all of the thing's i've tried so far are connecting it to the computer and trying to retore it so if you have any other ideas, i'm open to them! Thanks!

Have you thought about replacing the digitizer?

Options

Error code -1 is a failed jailbreak and the device is bricked. the device is useless and the only way to possibly getting it working is to use TinyUmbrella or redsn0w to bring it back to its default setting. heavy research is need for this task before attempting, at this point anything is better then nothing since it cant get any worse then what it is.

To be honest, i'm not too sure that it's a failed jailbreak because when I use my EarPods with the touch, and they have the inbuilt remote mic, I can play/pause music and control the volume, but I can't do ANYTHING with the touchscreen. I'll still try TinyUmbrella though!

if your right then there is vary little you can do to fix this. like finding what circuit or IC needs replacing.
