My laptop shuts off after I remove my adapter plug, even though its reading 100% fully charged. With the power plug not connected, and the battery life reading 100%, it still doesnt power on.

It happens often when the battery life is over. You may need to replace the battery with an iFix it guide or, in case you do not intend to, get it replaced by an Apple tech.
