Is PC2-6400 compatible with EMC2133 iMac?

Hello!

I wanna upgrade my iMac EMC2133 original configuration and add some RAM. I found some ram stick of DDR2 PC2-6400, and those are usually backwards compatible in most mainboards, but i don´t know if this is the case. I know that it uses 667 ram, but it will work with 800Mhz ram?

Thanks!

Won't work you have the wrong machine for that type RAM. You'd need a 2210 iMac8,1 for the RAM you found.

It does work. I found confirmation of this on a different site and have just installed some. Works perfectly.

it's true , it works flawlessly! I succesfully upgraded my a1224 and it's now running 2gb of 667mhz together with another 2g of 800mhz pc2-6400 and they seem to coexist with no hassle at all!
