Replaced hold/headphone jack, hold doesn't work headphone does?

So I replaced the headphone jack on my Ipod 5gh gen 30gb video. The headphone works flawlessly now but the hold button does not hold anymore. What did I do wrong?

Note the replacement jack did not come with a hold switch and just replaced it via the guide in this website (removing the switch and then replacing it, aligning the black prongs in the back of the new hold switch ribbon)

five5outh, it could be that you have gotten a bad flex cable. Open up the iPod and activate the hold switch with a small screwdriver or similar and try it while the iPod is still open. Should the hold switch still not work, replace the flex once again. Hope this helps, good luck.
