Harware problem or software problem?

Good evening

I just recover an Imac that has a problem.

When turned on it puts the white screen with the question mark.

I tried 3 dvd (installation, ios Leopard) but it does not detect.

Dvd drive spins and ejects the disc correctly.

Is there manipulation that could save my mac?

So I think it is a hardware problem, if you can advise me what to change first.

Thank you for avence!

Could be a little of each. The ? behavior indicates it can not find a valid boot drive with an OS installed on it. So if there's an HD in it, it's not working, or the cables are disconnected or bad.

The Disk eject after sounding like it's going to start (lots of noise and disk spinning, stopping) generally means that the EFI or OS on that disk is not going to work with your machine. If the disks boot other machines they are ok (they all could be damaged). OR, the eject is because the optical drive is wonky too.

You may have to go into the machine to check cables.

If you can put or access a boot OS from an external HD you would know if the rest of the machine is sound. OS 10.5.x is the least OS that would boot that box (it's what it came with). A current OS should also boot the machine.
