Mac mini does not see Sata III SSD at boot

Mac mini 2006 (Core Duo 1.66) does not see SSD (SATA III, Samsung 840 120 Gbyte) disk to boot. SSD fully formatted and Mountain Lion installed, can boot from this if use mac mini in target firewire mode on another mac. Chimes at powerup but then blank screen with folder/? mark and 'crossed circle' icon blinking. Suspect firmware does not recognize SSD? If boot mini from external disk, can see and use the SSD internally mounted. Any ideas? Thanks

A couple of problems here. The maximum operating system for this machine is 10.6.8. http://everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_mi...

Second, your BUS speed is Serial ATA (1.5 Gb/s)

I saw no jumpers on this drive. You might be happy with a Seagate Momentus XT hybrid drive that has 8 GB of flash storage plus 500 GB of standard storage. I've found these drives to be noticeably faster. [produit lié absent ou désactivé : IF107-098]

Thanks for comment and suggestion. No jumpers on drive, supposed to fall back to Sata I, but doesn't seem to or Intel chipset doesn't recognize. I think I"ll have to try a hybrid drive, or look for an old SSD Sata 1, if I want to speed things up. I can install Lion as external drive then remove plist from library, and it boots ok. Just using as a media server and a bit slow these days..but still running strong. Thanks again.
