hey i have the problem with the white screen on a 2nd generation iPod its actually working under the screen as im able to open music and play it but a can see anything its just white i have looked on the internet and people recommended the home and the power button however this still hasn't worked does this mean the screens broken ???

I have to ask, but have you tried power cycling the device? Simply hold the power button for a few seconds, then slide your finger across the top. Since your screen is white, you may not be able to see that slider, so you can also reset the device by holding down the home + power buttons simultaneously for a few seconds.
If that doesn't resolve your issue, try restoring the device via iTunes. See the article below for more info.
