LG Optimus G2 Guide?

Will you guys be covering the disassembly of the new LG Optimus G2 soon or know of any place that already has this information available? I've been searching the net daily for a guide because I'm afraid of ruining any of the phone's internals.

Jeremy, what kind of glue did you use to glue the glass onto the lcd? (and what else if you used anything other than that)

par

The glass was already bonded to the LCD screen in the replacement I bought. If you're referring to how I affixed the replacement screen to the frame, I used 3M mobile tape.

Hey Jeremy, did the glass replacement on the G2 work out for you? I had heard that the glass was glued to the LCD on the G2 and was difficult to remove. The guides only get you up to point before you remove the glass. Did it come off just with a heat gun?

par

Yes. The one I purchased off eBay worked for me. The glass/LCD is indeed "glued" to the frame with adhesive. This is always the difficult part to remove, when replacing cell phone screens. Luckily, for me, the original screen was already shattered on one corner, so I was able to chip off some glass with my fingers and a small flathead. That created a "hole" on that corner of the phone, and I just used it as leverage to slowly pry the glass around the casing using a plastic knife. I did not use a heatgun or blow dryer this time around, although that usually does make screen removal easier.

par

Wait, did you replace just the glass/digitizer and keep the original LCD? This is what I want to do. Or did you replace the LCD/glass/digitizer as a unit? That is a much more expensive part. I think the LCD/glass/digitizer was $150, while the glass/digitizer by itself was $40.

Jeremy, not exactly sure which version you have, since you did not mention the carrier. There is a LG G2 LGD803, LG G2 VS980, and LG G2 LS980. I checked all the manuals and they are pretty consistent on the disassembly. Check for the how to disassemble it on the device page, scroll down to supporting documents and click on the blue link. that will download the disassembly guide. Hope this helps, good luck.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I have the AT&T version, which is the D800.

Jeremy, just checked on that one as well and it looks like the same disassembly.

Wow! You're right. I must have been thrown off by the hype before getting the phone since everything online said Optimus G2... I guess because it's the successor of the Optimus G. Thanks for enlightening me.
