My laptop starts ups and goes through the start up and welcome page but then it goes to a black screen with the cursor visible. I'm able to hit Control-alt-delete and it brings me to Start Task launcher so I can do the system restore. It goes through the process then starts up again with the welcome screen and it hits the black screen with the cursor visible. Please Help

Hi,
You have to reinstall windows using windows install CD for a fresh copy of windows to get past this black screen as it seems some windows files are corrupted.

Were do i get the disc my laptop was a gift and he never gave me Windows disc or paperwork just laptop in a case with a beautiful card ready to go.

NWhen i turn on the laptop ot says windows failed to start.A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.To fix problem:
1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2.Choose your language settings,and then click"Next"
3Click repair your computer.
If you do not have the disc,contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Just download it from Microsoft website. As long as you have your Windows Key youre fine.
Do a "Upgrade" install to save data and it will reinstall windows 7.

Have you tried to start it from the CD drive, or in safe mode? Sounds like you are having some OS errors.
