WiFi to 3G Conversion...

Hi all --

Picked up a spare iPad 1st Gen 64GB WiFi only model... I've torn down newer models, but unsure about the 1st Gen and can't quite tell from iFixit pics. Can you swap the logic board from a WiFi only model (or the Sim and Communications Boards) interchangeably between the WiFi and 3G models? I hate to tear into this iPad seeing as it doesn't have a scratch on it (good ole' car tire of an outer case by otterbox, lol)... but thought it would be fun to expand it's abilities seeing as it is now a vintage model. Thanks in advance. J

You'll need the logic board set from a 3G model, a back case with antennas from a 3G model and modify the display frame of your ipad to add a GPS antenna onto it. So if you want 3G, just buy a 3G model.

Bummer. I actually have the antenna, comm board, and back case... Just didn't know if the wifi model logic board had unused ports and was essentially the same as the 3G model's MLB. Thanks for info, tho!

It won't work, at least not without serious hacking
