I can insert a dvd, but I have to apply a significant amount of force to take it in and out of the optical drive. The computer can read the disc perfectly. Yet it seems like the dvd gets stuck on the way out ( It comes out very slightly, then the mac thinks your inserting a dvd ). What's going on?

The feed rollers are dirty and/or the gear system is messed up which means you'll need to replace the optical drive.
