Sometimes my unit will not work correctly and would like to know how to get into the diagnostic mode to make sure everything is alright and what may be causing it to: locking still allows pressing button to function unit; volume to fade in display at various times. Thanks in advance. Mike

Mike, here is a great link to how to enter diagnostic mode. It will even tell you what the results mean. Hope this helps, good luck
