20" intel iMac Power supply dilemma
Hello,
I have a 20" intel imac EMC 2389 and i was wondering whether the power supply cable to the motherboard is compatible with standard ATX sockets, if so my plan is to run the imac from a 12 volt source seeing as i will being using solar, and buying a generic 12v to ATX adaptor from ebay similar to this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DC-12V-200W-P...
I believe the power consumption of my imac is a maximum of 250w roughly (found here) . There is an issue of under supply, maybe if i removed the DVD drive that would cut it, and seeing as the display is backlit by LEDS i think the DVD dive is the last thing i can sacrifice. If the power supply cable on the mac is different to a standard ATX connection or some connection that is easy to find i am willing to splice a few cables ect. from a 12v to ATX supply to match the imac power socket Although it would be nice if anyone reading this could shed some light on the pinout as i have had little luck. Just for clarity i do not wish to use and inverter to convert 12V to 240v and then into the computer.
Some help would be great. Thanks!
