If recovering your laptop is a priority, you will need to remove the Hard Drive, and get a SATA to USB adapter, and if you can, pull all the data off. If this does not work, then you will need to send it in to a data recovery center where you will spend loads if you really need to (7k-ish).
What OS do you have? Assuming you have Windows 7, follow these instructions. However, I would recommend using the command : "chkdsk C: /r /f" without quotation marks, instead of chkdsk C: /r. It does a more thorough check.
In the end, if the cause of these corrupted files is because of a drop, you may need to replace the HDD
If this doesn't work, try using the startup repair selection, which I think ralph was referring to.
