I want to use it in UK

I have just been given a used Roomba Red 4100. I can't test it, as the voltage is different from the UK (ours is 240) and of course the plug is different. Various sites have said you shouldn't just use an adaptor for the plug. Does anyone know if it would be safe/sensible to try it here?

Thank you very much. I have that with it. I'm not an engineer and probably shouldn't even be here! So you reckon I can find an adaptor to UK plug and won't explode?
