Mains supply not working

When the mains supply is plugged in the light doesn't come on so no power is delivered. If I squeezed the casing together at this point it works intermittently. The guy in the shop says the power input socket needs changing. You did an article about this in 2011 but the download link nolonger works. Can you reload it please, many thanks
