Cant get life out of replaced screen?

I have replaced a working shattered iphone 5 screen, but now neither screen will work new or old. When i connect charger to the phone there is a buzzing noise. has anyone else had this problem? and have they managed to sort it.

Solution retenue

1/Remove the screen, clean the connectors (on the board and on the flat cables of the new screen) with a cotton swab dipped in 90%+ isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

2/ Then carefully re-seat the new screen (be careful not to pull on the flat cables, they can be easily damaged).

3/ Charge your iPhone for 20 minutes (to make sure the battery is holding a charge), then hard-reboot your iPhone: press and hold Home Button + Power Button for ~12 seconds. If you don't see your iPhone starting, click once on the power button.

4/ If the above don't fix it, you could have a defective new display assembly on hand (or you could have damaged it when trying to install it). You need to try again using a known good display. Carefully follow this guide. If you pull ever so hard on the screen's flat cables, you will damage them.

5/ If all the above is ruled out, it could also be (but not as likely) that you have an issue with the "display circuit" on the logic board, due possibly to an error in manipulation during the first repair attempt.

Thanks.

I fixed this by

1. Installing the new screen without the shield plate.

2. Disconnecting the battery.

3. Holding down the power button for 30 sexonds to 1 minute. (this seemed to drain any residual power from the phone and screen.

4. Replacing the shield.

5. Reconnecting the battery and powering up the phone as normal.

Thanks for your reply.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery should fix it.
