MacBook losing connection to battery

My girlfriends 13" white Macbook from early 2009 recently had a bad encounter with the floor and now the computer randomly shuts off at times and the battery has to be re-inserted for it to power on again, if the charger is plugged in an x will appear over the battery indicator in the menu bar.

We've tried the computer with two different batteries and the problem remains, so it's not the battery that has gone faulty.

I'm thinking it might be the battery connector that might have gotten a bit loose but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had this happen and found a solution?

Thanks in advance!

Turns out it's not the battery connector or the battery that's busted but instead the charger which we're both using, it's third party and the rubber around the connector has been tearing, I noticed that it makes a buzzing sound when I move the cable and if it's plugged in to the computer it makes it short out.

I've ordered a new charger.

This model if I remember correctly does not have a removable battery unlike the older models (you would need to remove the bottom cover to access the battery).

The '09 model has the battery power cable attached to the battery unlike the '08 model which has a connector interface to mate up with the battery.

In which case your only option here is to see about fixing your logic board as the connector on it could be damaged.

It does have a removable battery.

Anyhow, I'll open it up and check the connector.

Just so we're clear here you can pop the battery without removing the bottom cover correct? If so here is the battery connector P/N Battery Connector with Sleep Switch 922-8275 and here is the guide to follow: MacBook Core 2 Duo Battery Connector Replacement.

All I need is a coin to open the latch, yes! :) Thanks for the the info about what connector to use, wasn't quite sure!

See if the connector block solves your problems. If so let us know.
