“Why is my device is getting hot and then shutting down?”
While running a program, the computer will shut down unexpectedly and is warm to the touch.

Frank Pecka, the FX170 uses a fanless Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz / Intel 945GSE + ICH7-M. this means that you have to ensure that it has good airflow and that the air inlets are not obstructed by dust etc. You do want to open it up and clean the heatsinks, possibly replace the thermal paste.
