Touch dead spots - what do I need to fix this?

I'm looking into repairing my Nexus 5 myself, and the only issue that I don't quite know what I need to fix, is the touch screen/touch digitizer, of even if that would be what I need to replace.

The touch screen has dead zones, so I'm assuming that I need to replace the touch digitizer, but if that isn't all that needs to be replaced, any input would be appreciated.

Everything with the phone functions properly other than the touch deadzone.
