Replace turn signal module on a 2008 yamaha golf cart?

the turn signal handle on my cart broke. I have purchased the module and wiring harness assembly but I can not find anywhere that tells me how to replace it. There appears to be a force fit cover over the wiring harness that has a pop rivet in it vs a screw. I assume this needs to be removed. but, there is also a boot at the bottom of the steering column I suspect may slide up so that the old harness can be disconnected. Has anyone ever had to do this?
