After battery replacement, stuck in recovery with no screen.

After replacing my iPod Touch's battery with one purchased on this site with the guide here, I noticed that the screen will not turn on and when plugging it into a computer, iTunes says it is in recovery mode. No matter what I do, the screen will not turn on and I can not restore.

On a side note, the guide to replace the battery does not need to include removing any connections or the logic board, as the solder points are easily accessible and in plain site. Unfortunately, I figured this out after completing the guide and ruined the headphone jack because of it. I'm not blaming my mistake on iFixit, but to protect others, perhaps the guide should be revised, as most of it is unnecessary and dangerous.

did you try to restore the ipod in DFU mode?

if not - try it now - here is a video that shows you the steps with the correct timing: CLICK

i think revising the guide isn't an option. most people find it easier to do it that way instead of soldering it half assembled.

the headphone jack can be almost easily fixed with a little bit of soldering tin and 4 tiny cables.

using the guides or not depends on the individual skills of oneself.

i could surely flood most others with input of how to do some repairs - but why should i?

it's not because i'm arrogant - it's because i first try to find out how much the other is able to do (and willing to do).

would it make any sense if i wrote in my answer that you have to get an infrared or hot air soldering station, flux, acid's and some bga balls, stencils and so on?

no - that would make no sense at all - the help "we" (the users) provide is free and many of "us" are pro's in the computer/mobile device business - but "we" must find a way to "spread the word" in a way that many of the "non professional users" are able to fix their stuff

Thanks for the info. Device manager says that the iPod is already in DFU mode, though iTunes still won't restore. I'm not even worried about the headphone jack, as this iPod will just be used in the car with a dock.

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, I just wanted to prevent other from making my mistake by reducing the possibility of damaging their device.

i see two options at the moment, first - i would try to hard reset the ipod (press the sleep and the home button until the device restarts - even if you cant see it, let it connected to the computer and you will hear it) and second - maybe you should try something like tiny umbrella to kick the ipod out of the recovery mode

I tried to reset. No avail =/

Also tiny umbrella apparently does not support the 1g. I also tried a similar tool from ih8sn0w, but no go. I have a feeling this iPod is done.
