The takeup reel on my super 8/ 8mm projector won't turn, seems like a belt or something may have broke. Don't know how to tear it down to access the problem is. It is a Kodak 477 MOVIEDECK.

That's a really helpful guide; is there any way you could answer why you think my new to me Kodak Ektasound Moviedeck 265 is feeding the film all the way to the takeup spool, but as soon as the film starts to wrap around it, it snaps into rewind mode and pulls the film back out. I can't see what's going on, but the unit appears to be good besides that, ie. not exhibiting the issues covered on p.44 in the guide.

Don Lutz, see if this manual will help getting the projector disassembled.

I have the same problem. I disassembled the projector to discover the toothed wheel that connects to the bigger toothed wheels that turns the spindles that turn the reels was damaged. The 40 year old plastic just shredded and the small wheel that connects from the motor to everything else is damaged. Not sure who could fix it or sell a spare part...
