I can instal the G5 17 lcd in the iMac intel?

par

Not possible - although almost identical the G5 screen will even prevent the Intel machine to boot.

Been there, done it, bought the t-shirt.

vertical lines ? - each line is 1 pixel wide and in different colors ?

then the answer is no - it's a hardware issue that many imacs had

the only way to fix this, is to replace the lcd

I purchased a Hannspree 1440 x 900 vga screen from Ebay for £24.00

confirmed it worked with external miniport to vga adapter in mirror mode.

I then removed the Mac LCD, disassembled the Hannspree, confirming that if one merely used the mac's ribbon cable it failed to boot. By extending the backlight cables, drilling the side rails to fit the screen and feeding the ribbon cable through the slot in the back I was able to internalise the Hannspree screen on the mac.(looks and works perfectly) The power supply and screen control buttons are taped to the rear of the Mac (A bit Frankenstein but who cares?) In all £28 rather than ridiculous price of a replacement screen. This has give the Imac a new lease of life.

Follow up question to answer

I can instal the G5 17 lcd in the iMac intel?

My reply:

Some 'suggestions' propose that the issue is the proper use of the inverter after the LCD switch. (i.e. use the imac inverter with pins corrected for the G5 LCD or a similar 'switch' with the G5 inverter, i.e. pinout change). But I presume your elaboration could shed some additional insight on my 'description'. (i.e. Maybe an additional switch of the LCD connector comes into play)?

If you're lucky you can find a decent used screen on Ebay for $150-$250

I got one and used the iFixit guide to install! I also maxed out the ram and put a new "green drive" inside which runs cooler and uses less power.

For about $300 I have a new - old imac which works great!

Of course you can also buy a complete used working iMac on Ebay for about $300-600

We purchased an inexpensive LCD Monitor ($70) and an adapter that plugs into the back of our iMAc in the "add a 2nd monitor" slot ($20). It looks kind of silly with the extra monitor, but the kids can use their pbs kids on the new monitor without the vertical line issue.
