When I'm watching something on tv my screen is red in places that should be black or just in places that should have a dark color and I don't know how to fix this please help!

I received a new tv I had purchased through Walmart and red was where the black should be... read all the blogs about power sources and light modules...so called Vizio and the rep told me to unplug it for a bit, then hold on the power button for five seconds and then plug it back it - and worked like a charm for me.
Not all fixes will be this easy - but it worked for me and thanks Vizio Tech Support :)

We have an LG TV and unplugging and holding the power button down 5 seconds and plugging back in worked! Thanks so much!!!
Thank You!! I just purchased my 24 inch smart TV from Vizio and was having the same color problem as red was showing for black and pink was showing for blue...did this trick and it worked!! Thank you!! Saved me from buying a whole other TV ♡

As I stated in another comment, THIS was the only thing that fixed my TV, THANKS alot man, may God pay you back!
But what was he doing with the tweezers to the wire in it? I didn't understand that part

Show to tv engineer..He will replace the color IC chip ..It cost you around 3000

Go for the first reply's option if your dealing w a tv that wont turn on or you have a pink screen but for this posts problem try this vid though i have to thank the first replyer cause it was his link that lead me to find this vid which fixed my tv
T conn board 20 bucks on eBay
David Ramirez's Comment helped me, I opened the TV, move the cable a bit and it worked like a charm. 8 years old Vizio TV still giving it all like the first day! LOVE this 22 inches Smart TV!

Replace T-conn board 20 dollar fix. You can get the part on ebay.

I am having the same problem... My smart tv is just two days old.... I restarted it and it started working fine…. But I'm worried if it happens again

I posted this above several years ago, but this is not a fix all for the red issues for all Vizio (and some other brands made with the same components. A chip may need to be replaced as posted above as well. For the 11 year old if the power button does not work, you will need a TV repair person.
Keep in mind the cost of the fix may be more expensive than buying a new set unfortunately. Right now Walmart has on online price of $99 for a Vizio 24" to pick up in the store.
While you may be able to pick up a chip on eBay for a smaller amount, you may be purchasing a used or part which will not work.
Electronic components does take some knowledge so it is not dangerous, since these are electrical parts.
If you have an adult who is trustworthy and knowledgeable may be able to help you. My sons learned a lot of electronics through the Boy Scouts, because some of the leaders worked for Collins, which provides for the space program (and others).

@iDoit4LoLz we get emails on our posts and glad it worked! I have used the 24" Vizio screens for monitors and right now am using about 12 of them.
Two of them have had this issue and only needed the power button routine once... since 2018.
We have dropped or knocked them on the floor and they are pretty durable (except the screens of course). Thanks and best of luck!
