My Gopro Won't Video Out

Hi,

My Gopro3 won't video out on the USB anymore. It will however video out from the HMDI though. I need it however to video out from the USB as I use it in my drone for aerial photography. Any suggestions?

Does your USB port functions otherwise?

Yeah my USB port functions fine when I hook it up to my computer and it detects the Gopro. Tried the video out feature with multiple video transmitter/receivers and different usb to transmitter connecting cables. No luck.

I can only think that somehow the video out pin from the USB port somehow may of burned out. I took apart the camera to have a look and didn't see any visible damage to the USB port on the motherboard...

Thoughts? Is there somehow a way to enable disable video out on a Gopro? It used to be automatic before.

i believe that go pro stopped supporting video out via USB and disabled it on a update as i had the same problem on my go pro hero 4 black edition that i purchased for aeriel photography on a drone

joeprice22, here is what GoPro suggest:"

What's the issue?

The computer does not detect the camera when connected via USB.

Where does it apply?

HERO4

HERO3+

HERO3

HD HERO2

HD HERO Original

HERO

How to fix it

If your computer is not recognizing the USB connection it could be one of a few things:

There is a loose connection somewhere

The USB cable is faulty

There is a compatibility issue with the SD card

There in confusion as to where to find the camera or SD card contents on the computer

There is a fault with the camera itself.

Please try the following steps:

If using a HERO3+ or older, be sure Wi-Fi is OFF before plugging the camera into the computer

Be sure that the camera is powered on when it is plugged in, and showing the USB symbol on the front LCD screen, indicating the proper connection to the computer

Try removing and reinserting the USB cable into the camera and computer, ensuring that both ends are fully inserted and secure. Note that you do have to give a little extra push to have the USB cable click into place when connecting to the camera.

Try restarting the computer and reconnecting the camera, and if this does not help and you have access to another computer, try the additional computer as well. Sometimes, leaving the camera plugged in for awhile will allow it to successfully establish a connection." from here.
