MacBook Pro 15" 2015 Screen Replacement

I have a Macbook Pro 15" 2015 version and I dropped my laptop and screwed up the screen, I've looked high and low for a replacement but they are in short supply. I'm curious if anyone knows if the Late 2013/2014 model screen will work with the the 2015 model.

The only one that I can find that says it is compatible is this one:

Parts for this machine are just not available yet. Your only source may be Apple. Give them a call and ask what their Flat Rate Repair charge is on it. The Flat rate may be much less than just asking them for a repair quote. Some times knowing the correct term to ask changes pricing dramatically. This failing you may be able to get it repaired. There is a company on eBay that offers Retina display service. Here's their straight sale: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Screen-Assem...

I'd check to see if this will one work on the 2015 even thought it's listed as being for the A1398, better to check before buying. They also offer a repair service. I have not used them yet so I can't vouch for them.

I can tell for a fact that the other 2 models Dispay Assemblies don't work with the 2015 model. I'm having the same problem and tried both versions (2012 and 2013/2014). Although the screen fits perfectly and the connectors fit the backlight doesn't turn on.

Thank you so much for this answer. We accidentally just tried 3 separate screens on our 2015 macbook pro only to realize we were installing the 2013/2014 lcd assembly and each time the screen worked but the back light wouldn't turn on. I have been banging my head against a wall. It sounds like we just ordered the wrong screen and *fingers crossed* the right screen will fix it.

That's what I was afraid of - I guess I will give my local Apple repair a call. Why does Apple have to make repairing their products so difficult?

So I ended buying this from Amazon:

I can confirm that it does work perfectly. The one I got did have a slight bit of light bleed but considering it was the only one I could find I can live with it.

Hello Gordon, did you end up just replacing the screen or the whole assembly? I'm looking to do a replacement and so far the signs point to replacing the whole assembly as replacing just the screen is extremely difficult? Thanks! Charles

I replaced the entire assembly as that was all I could find at the time.
