Upgrade Harddrive slower than older and lower RPM drive?

I upgraded to a 7200RPM drive last night and used superduper to clone the old drive into the new one and just swapped drives. It went fine until I booted the new drive and it took nearly two minutes to boot. Applications bounce on the dock for quite some time before launching. I understand that the clone eliminates cache files and that Spotlight index has to be rebuilt being that these files are not cloned, but how can a newer "faster" drive be slower than the original? Is the drive bad? Did i do or not do something properly during the clone? Thanx in advance for any input or recommendations.

UPDATE: whenever I reboot the machine a file keeps appearing in my trash, and a "recovered files" folder from shirt pocket, the makers of super duper. Anyone know what this is?

By the way, just for informational purposes, I did a PRAM reset which seemed to help others with this issue, but no dice.

Hi Majesty, Just for grins I would try running disk repair to see if that will cure your slowdown. Let us know how it comes out as this problem is likely to occur again. Good luck. Ralph + for the question.

Thanks Ralph. I'll give it a try, I have run file and volume optimization and it seems to have made it worse. I've thrown DiskWarrior and Tech Tools Pro at it, no dice.

Ralph, disk was OK. It seems that many people have suffered these symptoms after a superduper clone.

That must be why I use CCC :).

Yeah, I dont see how people can recommend this software after reading so many threads of people having the same issue after cloning with superduper.

My machine feels laggy, like I have done a downgrade and not an upgrade.

Ralph, thanks for the suggestions. I finally got things sped up with a clean install then recovered my user files from a time machine back-up. What a headache, needless to say, I deleted SuperDuper and dont plan to use it again. One's path is never secure when you cut corners. LOL
