Replaced my battery and now I have a "no battery available icon",

Hello, four days ago I received a new battery I ordered on amazon because my old battery was showing a replace immediately icon. Now I installed my brand new battery the day I received it using the tutorial on this site, and the battery icon has an x through it and says 'No Battery Available" when I click on it. I've tried resetting the SMS by taking the battery out and holding the power button and my using command+shift+option while it was turned off. While using the computer for a few hours, surfing for any way to fix this problem, the computer shut off, even while it was plugged in. Now, even though it's plugged in, the computer does not turn on at all. Please send answers quick so I can know if I need to return the battery or not and thank you for your time. Also, I am not sure if any info from my computer will be necessary in helping solve this problem, but it will probably be difficult to provide given the fact that the computer does not turn on anymore.
