iPhone shuts down suddenly and stays black

Hi,

My iPhone 4s now several times suddenly shut down and stayed unresponsive for a long time (1h), at any battery stage.

  • I pressed the two buttons for 30sec many times...
  • it is not detected in iTunes
  • it doesnt display if the charger is plugged or not
  • it seems hot after the moment of shutting down.

What would I need to check / replace? I don't know where to start...

What I noticed recently is that the last 20% of battery some times discharge extremely fast. Might it be the battery?

yes that sounds like a battery problem. just to be sure try a restore with iTunes an do not put you backup back on the device

Thanks! Now, I have not been able to bring it back for 24h. I actually don't see it in iTunes at all. It seems down. ..

No, it is definitively not the battery. I have replaced it with a new one form iFixit, but still the black screen persists. I cannot see the iPhone from within iTunes.

I have replaced the battery with a new one from iFixit, but still the black screen persists. I cannot see the iPhone from within iTunes.

Does the wifi work? Coz some of the iphone 4s have problems with the wifi module , and that causes fast battery drain, and resets on the iphone 4s ??

Thanks! Wifi works bot not exceptionally well (sometimes slow...). I had short blackouts several times, is it that?

Well, after I had replaced the battery and nothing had changed, I however noticed that the phone was heating up. So it meant that there was well some energy...

After some google I found this, where it says it could be a problem of the connections between display and unit.

Indeed, in the past, I had exchanged the display once and the backside twice... so I reopened everything and disassembled it agin and rebuilt it back...

=> and it worked!
