will not boot, despite charging all night

Hipstreet Vanguard 2 Tablet, using Android Lollipop refuses to boot up.

Have tried the opened paperclip method, to get a factory boot, but nothin, does not even light up.

This unit has been to Ontario, Canada, _twice_ to the repair centre. Two or three days operation, after each 10 to 20 day absence, does not make for a useful device, imho.

Edited, by adding remarks:

Used 2 different, known-good power supplies, with no response.

Tested the Vanguard 2's power supply on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, and the Galaxy happily charged on it!

Tested the Vanguard 2 on my acer Aspire Win 10 Laptop, which did not 'see' it.

The Aspire Win 10 Laptop 'sees' my Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 just fine.

:

I plan on opening up the Vanguard 2's case, this weekend, to see if the Power Switch is faulty. (I am a retired Seismic Surveyor, who opened up a Wang 600 to swap out a faulty built-in printer, as my first venture into non-survey-instrument surgery!). I have a couple different bench-top multi-clamp devices, plus a 6" diameter magnifying-glass c/w built-in lamp.

Hi,

Have you tried the standard Android method for a hard reset? First press Volume down, then whilst holding it press and hold the Power button. Hold both buttons until the Android system recovery screen appears. (If nothing happens try the same again, this time with the Volume Up button instead). When the recovery screen appears release both buttons

Select wipe data / factory reset with the volume keys and tap the Power button to activate it. Select Yes – erase all user data with the volume buttons and tap Power.

Hopefully your tab will be reset and will reboot

Thanks for the practical details. I also own three early model Proscan Tablets, which are being recalcitrant!

Grin. _That_ was one of the first ideas presented by their 'Help' centre. I Wish it had worked...

I have taken an old Casio charger 5vdc 2 amp and cut the wires and soldered it to a micro USB plug I used the white/red and a purple test it on an old device to make sure you have it right. I then started the high current charge and at first it looked good . After an hour it said 35% so I turned it on and it fell to 12% in a minute. I plugged it back in and checked for battery utilites, there was one battery pro that said it had 5 inactive cells and it then said it could fix them . Right now I have been using the tablet but software should not fix a battery and I think I will try to find a replacement on eBay. I do have an old old Pandigital and that battery still works good after 8 years.

The 2amp charger didn't do much, so I opened it up and unsoldered the red/black battery wires and soldered the Casio charger wires to the battery leads and left it overnight. Next morning I removed the charger and soldered the battery back to the motherboard. The unit has been on for about 2 hours and the battery is down to 60% now. My Phoenix would be at 80% after 2 hours. I have ordered a battery from China but it is only 3000 MA vrs the 3500 MA for the existing battery. You have to give Hipstreet credit this is an easy unit to open up and the battery connection is right there.
