Phone volume wont work

Firstly I have checked and yes my phone does ring, but when I go into Facebook/snapchat etc the sound won't play and I have ensured it is up as I know the volume for my ringtone and within apps are different, what can I do that may fix it? I don't want to have to send it off to be fixed as I need it for over christmas

Does the volume work when you use head phones or ear buds? Does it work when talking on the phone? Is it only external speakers that dont work ?

No it doesn't work when I use head phones either, yeah I can still ring people, I can hear my phone ringing, it just won't play sound on videos/ music etc
