My smashed & disabled iPhone 6: how to recover?

I write on behalf of a friend who has entrusted her iPhone 6 to me. She believed she was using iCloud, but her iCloud account is empty of data. There is no iTunes backup either. So there is NO backup.

The iPhone was smashed. Screen is now unresponsive. She tried to enter her passcode many times, but the smashed screen meant that the wrong numbers were being inputted despite her best efforts. Screen shows: "iPhone disabled, connect to iTunes" and allows emergency calls, but no option to enter passcode.

Normally I'd replace screen, restore iPhone, but... she is desperate to recover family photos. All software seems to require passcode, to be inputted (even third party data recovery sw), ditto when it is connected to iTunes- iTunes requires passcode to be inputted, but this cannot be done. Even if screen was replaced, there is no option to 'trust this computer' or 'enter passcode' despite iTunes' requests that we do so. Is there any way to recover the photos? We have the passcode, but no way to input it.

The file system is permnantly locked with the file protection class keys discarded in this situation. There is absolutely no way to recover any data. Even if someone has the technology, it would probably cost millions of dollars to implement.
