LG TV 50LN5700 won't initialize after a reset

The smart function stopped working - would only see pip in top left corner and rest of screen was black with a few random red pixles. Working with LG support they had me do a reset. Now get the basic initialization settings when powered on...select appropriate answers and then tv goes to blank screen. unable to access any functions on tv. Power cycle brings up welcome screen. Repeated the process multiple time - same result.
