Screen fades to white - is there a real fix?

I have the common problem where the screen fades to white after a bit of time and twisting the screen a bit fixes it for a second until you let go. I have read all about this problem but everyone just says to buy a new LCD. There appears to be 2 ribbon cables going from the LCD controller board up into the LCD and where they actually make a connection to the LCD is where the problem lies in assume. Has anyone taken apart the LCD to find that connection and attempt to fix it? I really don't want to buy a new LCD over a stupid loose connection. Maybe this is one of those, you have to destroy it to take it apart things? I'm going to find out, if I'm buying a new LCD anyways, might as well take this one apart and see where the problem is.
