Can I replace a charging port for the Moto G?

Hey everyone,

My phone doesn't want to charge no matter what I do to it, and I have tried a dozen different charging cords. I had someone change my battery for me, but that did not fix the problem.

I have read online that the charging port can break, so I think that may be what happened. It this something that can be fixed, or do I need a new phone?

Thanks,

James

@copelanite this is a relatively new phone. Have you considered that it might still be under warranty?

Good thought. I bought the phone right when it came out, so I am not sure if the warranty is still good, but I can contact Motorola to find out. If not, I'll just try to replace the charging port.

Let us know what you find out.

Motorola's Limited Warranty for the Moto G covers your device for one year.

Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase ("date of purchase").

You damage would be covered and of course can you void this warranty and follow the guide that is yet to appear. Nice assignment

Hi James,

It is possible to replace the charging port for this phone, and by the sounds of it you may want to try that solution. When you plug the charger into the phone does it fit in securely or is it loose? If it is loose the charging port may have been damaged, causing your problem. If you take a look at the troubleshooting page, there appears to be a replacement guide in the works for the charging port. I would bookmark that page and check back often for any updates.

If the charger fits in securely and you are positive there is no issue with either battery you have tried, I would contact Motorola support regarding your issue.
