Home button not functional. Caused by lightning connector assembly?
My original home button stopped functioning, including Touch ID. I replaced it with a new one, but it doesn't seem to work either. I checked that the replacement part isn't damaged and that it is properly connected.
Therefore, I am wondering if the issue could be coming from where the button is connected, the lightning connector assembly? Or if anyone knows of another possible cause?

Did you see any signs of water damage when you opened the phone? Have you made sure that the metal cover that goes on top of that is on there?
Lightning connector can be at fault, or even the IC for the home button (Not really sure what it's called but there's a chip that controls the home button on the phone)

No I haven't seen any water damage, and made sure the metal cover is placed properly.
In that case, I might attempt to replace the lightning connector. As for the chip you're mentioning, is it on the logic board or on a component that is easier to replace?
