iPod screen not lighting up after repair, trouble connecting to PC

I have a Ipod Classic 160gb Thin. It's been a long road for this Ipod. I originally opened it up to replace a damaged audio jack, upon doing that I accidentally broke the battery. So I replaced the battery and then broke the battery connector off the logic board. I took the logic board out and attempted to solder the connector back on. It was my first time and I did my best but I may have damaged something in the process or just not soldered it correctly.

Now, I tried charging it but nothing seems to happen (let it go for hours). I plugged it into my computer and I'll hear my PC register that it's plugged in via the usb sound, and itunes will start up and tell me I need to run recovery program. I'll do that, and it'll stop halfway through and then my PC doesn't register that it's connected anymore. If I hold the menu and center button to reset it, it repeats the process (you can hear the hard drive going normally, too). During all of this the screen has not lit up once (the battery was very dead before this process took place, so I suppose it's possible that it just can't get a charge long enough before it dies again, but I don't see why itunes would want to run recovery on it).

I'm pretty sure the problem is not that something isn't clipped in right, I've checked multiple times. So far I've had fun tearing this thing apart and it has been a great learning experience. So if all I have to do is replace the logic board, I'd be fine with that, however I want to make as sure as is possible that it is in fact the logic board, because that 100 dollars could go towards a new mp3 player instead.
