I replaced the integrated LCD and Display assembly on a working but iPhone with a cracked LCD and display. Now when I make or receive a call, the only way I can hear the other party is if I put them on speakerphone.

I had the same problem and I fixed it. I just opened the iphone because my wifi no longer works. When I closed it up well the place were you hear the calls did not work anymore. Well the trick is to make sure your connector 3 is well put back in place. It is the orange flabby one behind the number 2. Before you pop the 2 back into place you need to put the 3 in. Lift the white tab on the logic board. It might be already lifted and then insert the 3 into it. Like putting a piece of stick gum inside your mouth. Then close the white switch back down and it should lock the 3 into place. Then proceed with the 2 and then 1. This will surely fix the issue.

this is my exact problme. i hope someone has the answer for us. ive taken these thigns apart many times, never this problem.

Check cable3. No change then either replace cable or speaker and cable. Check eBay. Speaker usually comes as part of midframe
I replaced the cracked screens of mine and my daughters 3gs iphone. My daughters phone worked perfectly once the job was done. All functions on my own hone also worked perfectly. However when i made or received a call the otherparty heard me ok but I could only hear them if i used speaker phone function or my headphones.
I read this post and re-opened my phone and low and behold the ribbon inside labelled 3 had come loose!!. What a great find . My iphone 3 now fuctions just as it should I can hear calls as normal. i was at a loss before I found this post. Thank you.
So if you have replaced your screen and can only hear your calls through the headset or speaker phone and all other sounds are ok , re open your phone and re fix the 3 connector it will have come loose !! hooray Good luck Donna

I replaced my screen then could barely hear my calls. Check your tone volume. Make a call and then push the volume button (same button you use to raise the ringer volume). Making a call allows this button to control the hearing level.

the proximity sensor in the phone display is bad or not connected in the socket all the way. try pushing it in to the socket up to white line. if that does not work replace proximity sensor. good luck.

Way do u mean u re opened ur iPhone???? I'm having the same problem

Opened the phone is when I unsecrewed the bottom screws and used the suction cup to lift the display out of the socket.
