boot sound and white screen on boot

I bought this macbook air model no. a1237 on ebay from a guy who said the screen was bad and he would include a new screen he just didnt have the tech ability to fix it. after i installed the new screen and tried to boot i got the standard chime and then the screen was white and never changed. i plugged in the old screen to the logic board and the same thing. from what i have read online this means a faulty logic board. when i looked on ebay a used one will cost about 400-600 bucks and a repair service is just as much. I do have a aouye 968 smd repair station that i use to fix rrod xbox 360's and i was wondering if there is anything i can do myself or if i should try and sell the thing or send it to a third party for repairs. There is no apple care or warranty left on this macbook air. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Cody

i am starting to think it is just the lcd's that are bad. i noticed on the one that the little ribbon cables at either end of the circuit board on the bottom of the lcd is torn. im not sure why the second lcd isnt working but im sure the lcd is just bad b/c the computer recognizes my tv as a monitor and there is another monitor listed as "color lcd." so i will try and get a new lcd and see how that goes

Hook it up to an external monitor to check the GPU and logic board.

The LVDS is causing the issue and needs to be replaced by a professional certified Apple Technician with appropriate device.

Update

1- The connector between the logic-board and the CABLE that comes from display is loose.

2- Other possibilities?

I had this same issue. White screen, chime, responded to light sensor. Hooked to external monitor, would get video there. But I could only get a white screen on the internal monitor. I swapped the logic board with a known good logic board and this fixed the issue. So I'm going to say it's a logic board issue, strange as it is, or a logic board to LVDS connector issue (all I did was remove this, the HDD connector, data/usb connector, airport card connector, magsafe port, iSight connector(?), and top case connector, to swap the logic board). I had a !@#$ of a time finding any info, so I hope this helps some people out there. I'm going to investigate and see if I can find any further answer to this.
