As you can clearly see from the image, there are several multicolored lines across the screen. The device was shipped from my mom in the states last week, it was in perfect condition before she sent it.
Any workarounds? Maybe fixes I can do manually?

Start with a factory reset. Its unlikely that will fix it, but its the easiest fix. If that doesn't fix it, open it up and check the LCD connection on the motherboard. Make sure its seated will and there is no debris in there. Test the screen before you reglue the digitizer.
I'm posting this as a comment because I ran into a few Airs that gave me this same problem and I never did figure them out. Hopefully its something simple that a reboot or reseating the connector will fix.

I had the same thing on my old PSP this is dead pixels the screen display was probably damaged in shipping the only way I know how to fix this is to go and get the display changed if you don't have a warranty this can be vary experience so if you don't you might have to just deal with the lines

I did have same problem. Did a hard reset, by pressing Home and sleep/button. Solved.
