Unable to format a new 8GB sd card.

Hi

I have just tried to format a new 8GB sd card in my camera and it will not format it.

It keeps giving me the message Unable to use card, it has a yellow triangle preceeding the message.

I have tried formatting the card on my computer which was completed OK but when offered to the camera gave me the same message.

I have made no alterations to the camera and it still accepts my old card, but at 64MG it really is nowhere near big enough, any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks for your suggestion, it seems that I will have to be content with a smaller capacity card, what a pain, I love the camera as it does all I want.

Hi,

Perhaps 8GB is to big. Maybe you should try a smaller capacity card, say 2GB or even 1GB and see if that works. Being first released in 2003 it is an old camera by today's standards.

I'm sure a 2 gig sd card is the largest you can use in this camera

I have tried larger ones with no luck..
